Our good friend Mike recently lost his friend Andy to Friedrichs Ataxia, a degenerative neuromuscular disease in the Muscular Dystrophy family. Andy visited our college several times. I was struck by how he took the time to listen and would give encouraging advice. I recently learned that he was a big fan of the 1951 film The Thing from Another World (John Carpenter's 1982 film The Thing is based on this). It was his Saturday-night ritual to watch this movie. We're going to watch it on a Saturday night to pay tribute to Andy.
